How 6 Degrees Networking events can benefit you and your business

Many business people know that networking is a cost effective method of generating new business, but have you found the right networking group for you?

We aim to provide a quality platform for business opportunities and resources both online and at our events. 6ºN has guests and subscribers from a diverse range of professions and industries.

The group also provides support and resources to enable businesses to succeed. Our LinkedIn group allows members to contribute to online discussions, while this website delivers practical business information via our Twitter feed, blog, previous speakers, YouTube channel and podcasts on the Apple iTunes store. In addition to networking, 6ºN events feature stimulating guest speakers.

Well-known networker, Chris Chirnside and graphic designer Steven Mitchell are the co-founders of the innovative networking group.

Chris explains: “We are named 6 Degrees because we believe networking is very effective in helping businesses make connections they thought was unrealistic, especially with decision makers in high places. Just because someone you meet at an event doesn’t need your service, they might know someone who does or know a decision maker in company you would like to do business with.”

Chris continues: “Our guest speakers help attendees to learn new or different ways of doing things, topics range from public speaking to using the latest social media tools. Ultimately, though we are member driven and will always adapt to suit their needs.”

The launch party took place at GUSTO, Edinburgh on 7 April 2009 and the first official networking event took place on Tuesday 19 May 2009 at Chez Pierre, Edinburgh. On 1 September 2009 the group launched in Glasgow at 29 Private Members Club. Edinburgh breakfast events started in October 2009. The group also runs lunch events at Bond No. 9 in Leith (Edinburgh) and Society M in Glasgow. Since February 2011, monthly lunch events take place in Dundee at West Park or Figure 8.
